Massachusetts offers a both downhill and crosscountry skiing. The ski runs vary in length from 1 mile to 25 miles long. The vertical drop in feet range from 250 feet to 1000 feet. Many Ski areas (not all) offer rentals, snowmaking, lessons, nursery, snowboard park, chair lift, rope tow, night skiing, handicap accessibility and a restaurant.
In the Greater Boston area, go crosscountry skiing at Medfield and Weston. Take ski lessons and rent equipment at Weston.
In the region North of Boston and Greater Merrimack Valley, go downhill skiing at Haverhill and Westford. Go crosscountry skiing at Carlisle. Rent equipment and take lessons at Haverhill, Westford and Carlisle.
In Central Massachusetts, go downhill skiing at Shrewsbury and Princeton. Go crosscountry at Princeton, too.Rent equipment and take lessons at Shrewsbury and Princeton.
In Western Massachusetts , go downhill skiing at Charlemont, Blandford, Pittsfield, South Egremont, Hancock, Otis and Great Barrington. Go crosscountry skiing at Lenox, Granville, Northfield, Windsor, Great Barrington and West Hawley. Take lessons all of the above areas except Windsor. Rent equipment at all of the listed ski areas.
Go snowbiling at forest and parks in Topsfield, Georgetown, Lowell, Assonet, Carver, Hingham, Douglas, Westminister, Rutland, Monterey,Chester, Goshen, Charlemont and Lee.
Snuggle up in a blanket and take a horse drawn sleigh ride in Acton, Brimfield, Hancock and Brookfield.
Go snowshoeing on trails or across the countryside in Willliamstown, Carlisle,Granville and Hawley.
Go ice skating on outdoor skating ponds in Gardner, Boston, Jamaica Plain and Springfield.
Mush a team of dogs in Brookfield and Warwick. Take the family along or not for dog sled lessons and guided tours.
